I should thank this person! I have been trying to compile a list of all the websites and stores that I get my Cricut ideas from. Your comment gave me the get up and go I needed to get off my bum and just do it!
Today while looking for craft ideas myself, I came across this post on another website:
I have a Cricut, and I know there are lots of projects it can be used for but I don’t know where or what those projects are. HELP! Do you have any suggestions, ideas, or websites to shed some light on what all I can use my Cricut Expression for? I just get lost in all the options. Thanks!
First, though, I have a confession to make. You see, I love to craft and create, but personally, I’m just not that imaginative! I am continually amazed at the artsy types who can just look at a pile of craft supplies, and come up with completely original and unique Cricut ideas. Every time I try, it’s a complete waste of time! I get so frustrated. That doesn’t mean my Cricut is packed away neatly in a box or gathering dust bunnies. Instead, I rely very heavily on the generosity of others when it comes to my own Cricut ideas!
One of the greatest Ideas I have seen recently came from a friend of mine. They sent me a link to this software called Sure Cuts Alot. It lets you cut any TrueType font on your cricut machine! No more buying or sharing all those font cartridges. Did you know there are thousands of free TrueType fonts out there? Some of them even have custom dingbats and pictures. I love the Sure Cuts Alot software!
Here are a few of my favorites places for getting started:
- Magazines – You can find excellent paper crafting magazines just about everywhere! As a rule, when I pick up a few groceries at the store, I usually wander over to the crafts section, where they have all of the crafting magazines. I spend a few minutes flipping through the issues.
- Cricut Message Board – I love the Cricut Message Board! They should call it the Cricut Idea Board! I swear you will find a mountain of Cricut ideas there. As a rule, I try to not go there unless I have a lot of time to get sucked in to crafting! When I do visit, I end up there for several hours at a time, just poking around and getting ideas. I truly love this site!
- Other blogs – After you spend a little time on the message boards, you will notice that several people have links to their personal Cricut idea website or blog. Click to a few of these, and you will walk away with even more ideas! Many of these bloggers even have projects that are published in popular scrap booking and crafting magazines, which brings us to my next favorite.
- Regina Easter’s Bitten by the Bug website – I know I already mentioned bloggers, but this one is a little different. Regina has weekly challenges (with prizes!), and I’m always awed by the projects that are submitted. It’s well worth a visit!
I hope this helps you with ideas for your Cricut projects – for off line and online. If you or anyone has additional recommendations (favorite blogs, magazines, message boards, etc.), please comment below. We love to hear from you and I am sure other would too!
