The short answer: you can do larger stuff!
They have actually THREE machines: Cricut (Personal), Cricut Create (only sold in Michaels stores), and Cricut Expression (the one you see on TV infomercials).
Cricut Personal can do up to 5.5″ of stuff, no other size was specified.
Cricut Create can do 6″ x 12″ with mat
Cricut Expression can do 12″ x 24″ with mat
So basically expression can do much bigger stuff than the smaller one. But then you also pay a lot less for the smaller one.
