Why would you want to use good quality vinyl?  It depends on the application.  Exterior 3M vinyl can be used on things like lettering or designs for your car that will not slide off in wet weather.  They are sticky enough to withstand outdoor use.  But this vinyl is not cheap.

Read the rest of the article to find out how to get free or cheap vinyl.Ok here is how to get cheap vinyl – I used to work at a print shop years ago.  We did all kinds of prints from paper to banners to vehicle wraps and lettering.  We had tons of vinyl.  We bought it by the yard in all colors of the rainbow.  You can go to your local sign shop that advertises vehicle lettering or cut vinyl.  Its all the same vinyl.  They will probably not want to sell it to you if you tell them you are doing vehicle lettering as that competes with them directly.  Just tell them you are using it on your cricut to make small scrapbook items.  These are usually to small and to custom to make it worth their time to do it for you.  BUT – They will probably give you scraps of vinyl from their bigger jobs or even sell you vinyl at a huge discount compared to what you are used to paying for cricut branded vinyl. ALSO ask them about getting some transfer tape. This stuff is the best to arrange things with. You can print out a whole line of text. Put the transfer tape on it and hang just one piece of vinyl at once. The tape will hold it all together exactly how you want it.
